r/MtF Just a bit of a vent here... I'm 16 and a closeted trans girl currently in high school. In my Civics class, we had to pick a topic that we cared about, do research about it, and make a poster/website/video about the thing, and then we had a Civics Engagement Fair where in the gym, we all had tables where we set up our projects and presented them to people walking around. That was this morning. For the most part, | really enjoyed it, my friends and | had a really fun time presenting our projects to each other. However, when | walked around to look at other people's projects, one really made me feel uncomfortable. One person made a presentation about why he thought transfeminine people should be banned from the Olympics. He never actually presented his project to me, but | read his entire poster, and it made me really uncomfortable. He said things like trans women have a "biological advantage" to cis women, as well as a ton of other absolutely garbage. I never really thought of my school as that transphobic, but that project makes me feel as if it could be. Fortunately, one girl actually made a presentation on LGBTQ bullying and why it shouldn't be tolerated, so that's nice at least... I'm absolutely not in a hurry to come out to school though ._.
