MEE +61. 350 = PIANO_ PERSON The majority of transphobia | experience is very subtle and very pervasive. | think implicit biases. Does anyone else see this in their lives? Usually, people don't act outwardly and obviously transphobic to me. It happens in more subtle ways. It has to do with people's implicit biases. I don't get promoted at jobs. People stare at me. Men try to prove their not attracted to me by being jerks to me. Women giving me dirty looks and acting catty. And a million other ways I'm being held back over other people. In ways | am starting to realize and ways | don't too. Ilive in a small midwest city. It's VERY conservative and conformist here. | know the national rate of trans people in the population is like 0.6 percent. But here is more like 0.06 or less. | NEVER meet or see trans people. So being transgender is so rare here. That I'm the first one anyone is aware of meeting. So it's very otherized here. It's 5000000 pervasive to just be transphobic by default. I'm sure not many people think of themselves as transphobic or hateful of trans or gnc people. But it still effects the way | am treated and what opportunities are available to me. Other transphobia is very in my face. Like being fired when | came out. Has anyone else noticed this "default" subtle transphobia? It really sucks. | feel like I'm constantly being gas lit into thinking | suck and am not good enough. fwd On Q A> Share
